The year 2022 began with great hope of a new world order.
It was envisaged the dark two years of pandemic would lead to a happier and peaceful 2022.
As the year unfolded it was full of surprises both good and bad.
Each one of us will describe the year as we experienced it.
But do you know how Collin’s Dictionary describes 2022 in one word?
“ Permacrisis “ is their word for the year for 2022
What does it mean?
“An extended period of instability and insecurity, especially one resulting from a series of catastrophic events”.
With all the mounting crises the world has witnessed during 2022, “Permacrisis” perfectly encapsulates the dizzy and tumultuous hurtling from one unprecedented catastrophe to another. We witnessed an unending and devastating war, turbulence, instability, political disturbances, close behind the tragic healthcare crisis of the COVID which is yet not over.Record-breaking temperatures, devastating floods, weak economies, looming recession, heightened inequality and turbulence at work place are the new realities we face. We live in fear of the horrors that might still be lurking around.
But wait ….
There is good news too, the pandemic has lost its steam.
We are still alive back to living without the Covid protocol that had chained us .
We continue to display exemplary resilience and have overcome the many challenges we have faced.
Yes, we in this year of turnaround and turbulence we are grateful for what we have specially our loved ones and family.
All is not bleak as it seems and the lessons learnt are for us to imbibe.
We live with hope and faith that 2023 will bring back light to the end of the turbulence of 2022 and years before.
Better times lie ahead of us not what we leave behind.
