Google Maps are an universally popular navigation tool that guides us to our destination. However, we often miss the direction it has given, take a wrong turn, or assume we know better.
What does Google do in such an eventuality?
- Does it condemn, castigate, or abuse us?
- Does it raise its voice and scream?
“Why don’t you pay heed? You moron you were supposed to take the left turn at the last crossing. Serve you right now you will have to go the long way and not only will you waste more time and fuel but also be late for your meeting. Remember this is the last time I will help you if you don’t listen to my instructions. You have wasted so much of my time and energy in futility.”
Imagine what would the outcome be if Google expressed its displeasure every time we erred? We would simply switch off and stop using the maps. Instead, what does Google do when we err?
- No questions, no judgement or criticism, no impatience or cribbing.
- Simply reroutes and guides us towards our destination.
- Gives us heads up on possible delay in reaching our destination.
Mistakes happen, failures are inevitable. But….
- Do we indulge in blame game and criticise?
- Do we vent our frustration and anger?
OR
- Untangle and resolve the problem calmly and patiently.
- Help, and guide to resolve and find an amicable solution.
Don’t you think rerouting and course correction is an easier and more effective solution to deal with problems and failures that come our way in reaching our destination? Simply move on and learn from your mistakes. No point in crying over spilled milk.
