🌑 Another day to painfully realise that women are yet not safe in the world we inhabit. The unending atrocities, abuse, brutality, rape, violence, and harassment leave us battered and broken.Ironically, the empty claims of Nari Shakti are but mere words that cannot erase the nightmare we face today. We discuss hoarse but stand helpless when the evil might strips away our dignity way.
❓Have we come so far yet to just to face this cruel reality that we are not yet equal.
🌑Yes, it is not all men—but it takes just one brutal man to obliterate our hopes in humanity.
❓Will we ever be free from the terror that shadows us every day.
❓How many more lives must be destroyed before we confront this crisis with the urgency it demands.
🌑Violence against women is not just a one off issue that pings us ocassionally but an pandemic. It needs the same concerted efforts when an virulent contagion threatened to destroy mankind. It is a relentless, insidious force that infiltrates our lives and endangers our very existence.
❓When will we wake up to this harsh reality.
🌑One out of three women, 736 million globally have suffered violence at least once in her lifetime. These statistics are the tragic story of exploitation of us, our very own mothers, sisters, friends and own daughters whose lives are endangered. For God’s sake, women not disposable commodities.Let alone humans even animals deserve better. We are the backbone of society, the creator of man and ironically worshipped as divinity in its many Avtaars.Every statistic is a heartbeat of a life where dreams are shattered by the savage barbarity. Even as women have made gigantic strides and broken glass ceilings, tragically we are seen as objects of gratification, to be controlled, abused and exploited.
❓Where are we safe I ask.
🌑In this plague that scourges our lives, even infants and old are not spared but haunted in every corner of our existenc.Schools, homes, hospitals, work and public spaces. A malady that contaminates our interactions, relationships, our dreams to live as the horror of unknown awaits us. The volatility of the world cursed by war, conflict, power struggles, poverty and devastation exacerbate our vulnerability.
🌑In India, nearly 100 rapes are reported every single day. But just pause, imagine the countless others that go unreported, buried under the crushing weight of shame, fear, and a leaky justice system, often a mute spectator amidst the powers to be.Everyday, we navigate a world that cautions us, to watch our backs, to modify our behaviour, our dress, our very presence to survive.
❓How much longer can we endure our safety at risk.
❓How can we to step out of our homes to work, or even the local market without a sense of dread.
❓Can we ever truly feel safe and free when our daily existence is threatened
❓Can laws really protect us, or remain hollow words to shield the mighty.
❓But why should we have to live like this in fear and despair?
❓Why should the onus of our safety lie with us when the world around us refuses to change.
🔳Yes, we do not want to be careful but live free from the the mercy of those who suppress us, the ominous and treacherous threat of violence that looms.
◼️We want the same sense of security that men take for granted. We want to live for who we are, to soar and flourish, progress and prosper not just to survive
☑️But this freedom demands resolve to do what is necessary to bring about real change to dismantle the toxic structures that allow this violence to persist.A collective effort from men and women alike, to challenge the status quo, to speak out against injustice, and to stand together in the fight for true equality.
☑️We need a societal transformation in how we think, raise our children, and treat each other. We need to attack the root cause of patriarchy, inequality, and the deep-seated beliefs and harmful stereotypes that perpetuate inequality and the scourge to fester. We need the next generation to see beyond to shift the narrative from control to partnership, from domination to mutual respect.
❓Will they carry forward the same chains that bind us, or will they break free and change the narrative? The future indeed rests in their hands.
☑️It starts at home, with how we raise our sons and daughter. It’s not about teaching girls to be careful; it’s about teaching boys to respect, honor, and value women as equals not because we ask for it, but because it is their duty
☑️In schools, educate not just for academic success, but for empathy, and mutual respect and understanding.
☑️At workplace, empower us to lead, to speak out, to thrive without fear of harassment or discrimination. Our workplace should be a space to grow and flourish not a battleground where women fight for our survival.
☑️We need zero tolerance for any form of violence, with strict enforcement and real consequences for those who violate our safety and dignity.
✔️Yes, we need to reclaim our streets, our homes, our schools, our workplaces as places where we can once again breathe freely. Safety, respect, and care must be present in every space we venture into.Better lighting in public spaces, more visible and accountable law enforcement, and community programs that support and protect women at every stage of their lives. We must also leverage apps, hotlines, and other tools to facilitate but these are just stopgaps.
✅Ultimately the goal must be to create a world where safety measures are redundant because fear itself has been eradicated. Imagine a world where we don’t need to rely on emergency buttons and helplines.
✅But today, silence is complicity, and complicity is deadly. We cannot afford to allow our voices to drown in the cachophony.
✅Women are not victims; we are survivors, warriors, and leaders capable of shaping the world in ways that are profound and powerful.
✅We have dreams, ambitions, and the strength to achieve them.
✅The celebration of women empowerment is not for the halo corridors but to transcend beyond empty words, symbolism and candle marches.
✳️ Time has arrived for us to shout for real change to be bold and decisive to create a world we all deserve.
✳️ A world where safety is not a luxury or privilege but a fundamental right for freedom, respect, dignity and equality.
✳️To rise and bring an end to the atrocities and violence for a new story to unfold, a new dawn to emerge, where women walk freely, and our strength is celebrated.
✅ Let us promise that we will not rest until every woman everywhere, can live free, free from fear to soar, unafraid and be unapologetically ourselves.
✅Let this uproar not be in vain, but a new dawn emerge where every silenced voice roars once again for a brighter, safer, and more just world.
✅Let us not be broken but rise to overcome to ensure there are no more cover-ups but our safety become a way of life where all the wrongs are made right.
✅We cannot wait any longer.Enough is enough and we surely deserve better, a new terrain to rise and overcome with our head held high and our dignity and voice restored.
✳️We have not come so far only to retreat and regress back into the dark ages
✳️We have fought hard, sacrificed too much, and endured more than we should ever have to.
✳️Whatever needs to be done to clean up the stench, the malaise, and the malady must be done.
❇️Our dreams cannot be cut short; our suffering cannot be in vain, silenced by the powerful hands who want our story to fade. We will not fade. We will not be forgotten.
❇️Our existence demands nothing less. This is our time to rise, and rise we shall in a new world where we can all stay alive and every women can truly live once again.
