Our Planet Is at A Tipping Point

Last year with the onset of the pandemic, the daily frenetic pace of life, with its cacophony of sound and riot of activity came to a grinding halt. While the world was coming to grips with lockdown, quarantine, economic and travel slow down, we witnessed an opportunity to engage with nature as never before and found ourselves enjoying life’s simplest pleasures. We experienced incredulous joy to hear the birdsong in deserted cities, see the clear blue skies, the shimmering blue ocean, feel the fragrance of the fresh crisp air and starlit skies. However, we threw caution to the winds and the promise of hope with the roll out of vaccines has soon been eclipsed  with the raging resurgence of the storm that continues to wreak havoc in our lives.

Amidst untold grief, loss, and uncertainty, our Earth has had a giant pause and a chance to reclaim and reboot itself even though it was shortlived.  It was however more than evident that our planet Earth is fragile but resilient to bounce back. Our planet is therefore not the problem, we are. We our own culprits that have caused this tragedy and alone can cure ourselves of this malady.

A healthy planet is therefore not an option but our only hope for survival and a better tomorrow and better world. It is therefore time to….

  • Recharge and protect our Earth and its beautiful glories as it is our home, the only place that allows us to take shelter in her arms.
  • Restore and heal our Earth to a cleaner, greener, and sustainable path as air, water, sunshine is the only means for us to survive.
  • Reset to preserve our Earth so that we can co-exist in harmony with nature and ensure its subsistence as our existence also hinges on it.
  • Respect and embrace our Earth with gratitude for the bounties that we enjoy as we do not own this planet and have no right to invade or destroy it for our unsatiated greed.
  • Realisation that we can live on our Earth only if we take a collective responsibility to save it as our lives and nature are interconnected.
  • Repair our Earth and the damage caused to precarious and fragile balance between the nature and mankind as we share this planet with all other living beings and cannot alone reign supreme.
  • Reconnect and love our Earth every day and not just one day as it is our good fortune to live on this planet and enjoy all its benevolence.
  • Responsibility individually and collectively to preserve and tend to the wellbeing of our Earth and all that it supports as we cannot call it “our Planet” unless we take care of it.
  • Responsiveness and resilience to the clarion call that we must change the way we live as we can only survive if we rebuild our Earth.
  • Recalibrate and restore the equilibrium between the health of our Earth and the economic, social, and environmental needs of present and future generations as we not only owe it to humanity but to the planet we call our home
  • Reflect to remind ourselves that our planet Earth and nature will survive but mankind will certainly not unless we take care of it as we are dependent upon it for our survival.

Our planet is calling ….it needs to happen now and not later ….to celebrate our life on our Earth once more.
